ILOILO CITY — Western Visayas anti-drug operatives confiscated more than P10.2 million worth of suspected shabu during an intensified operation, the Police Regional Office said Thursday.

The 24-hour operation started at 6 a.m. on Dec. 10 until 5:59 of the following day and yielded about 1,206 grams of illegal drugs with an estimated market price of P8.2 million.

The Negros Occidental Police Office netted the biggest volume of suspected illegal drug confiscation, reaching P5.7 million, followed by Iloilo City Police Office with P2.4 million.

Policymakers voted 11-to-1 in favor of dropping the central bank’s benchmark rate to between 4.75 percent and 5.00 percent.

The rate cut, the Fed’s first in more than four years, reflects its new focus on bolstering the job market, which has shown clear signs of slowing. Coming just weeks before the presidential election, the Fed’s move also has the potential to scramble the economic landscape just as Americans prepare to vote.

In the afternoon of Dec. 11, the Pavia Municipal Police Station-Drug Enforcement seized around 300 grams of shabu worth P2.04 million during a buy-bust operation in barangay Pagsangaan, Pavia.

All suspects are under police custody and facing charges of violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
