Maharashtra New Cabinet: Mahayuti MLAs Take Oath

The 10-day old Maharashtra cabinet was expanded on Sunday, December 15 when 39 Mahayuti MLAs were sworn in at the ceremony held in Nagpur, just a day before the start of the Winter Session of the state legislature. The Home portfolio which became a point of controversy in the state has finally been given to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

In the expansion, BJP got 19 ministerial berths, followed by 11 to Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and 9 for Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party, taking the cabinet strength to 42 which includes the CM and two Deputy CMs.

Among the prominent names who have been inducted in the state cabinet are BJP chief Chandrasekhar Bawankule, Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil and Nitesh Rane. Shiv Sena's Dada Bhuse, Shambhuraj Desai and Sanjay Rathod also took oath along with NCP's Aditi Sunil Tatkare and Dhananjay Munde.

Delhi Polls: AAP Releases Final List; Arvind Kejriwal To Run From New Delhi, CM Atishi From Kalkaji

The Aam Aadmi Party has announced a total of 67 names in the four lists for the upcoming Delhi assembly election including the names of top party leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi, Satyendra Kumar Jain, Saurabh Bharadwaj and Amanatullah Khan.

The Election Commission is yet to release the date of the elections for Delhi. The current government began with Arvind Kejriwal as the Chief Minister in February 2020 and will officially end on February 15, 2025.

The government has postponed the introduction of two bills related to the 'One Nation, One Election' bill in the Lok Sabha. The bills—the Constitution (129th Amendment) Bill and the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill—were initially scheduled for introduction on Monday, December 16 but have been deferred until after the completion of financial business. 

The revised agenda for the day does not list the bills, however, there are chances that they could be introduced later in the week after the House passes the supplementary demands for grants.
